GlobalWafers announced on July 27th that it is going to establish a 300mm wafer fab in the Taxes Sherman, United State. The company projected that it will start mass production in 2025 to service its big customers including TSMC, Intel, and Samsung. Chairman of GlobalWafers, Xu Xiu-lan held a press conference to dress the details of the new fab.
Xu Xiu-lan emphasized that she is very confident of the new fab construction in the US, and she believed the project will succeed.
She pointed out that if everything goes well, the new fab can start construction by November this year. But she is also worried about the unpassed US. Chip Act. Is an uncontrollable factor that is very crucial. If the Act. Unable to pass, GlobalWafers will take a different approach to respond.
Xu Xiu-lan said it is too early to say what kind of approaches she will take. But considering the long contracted customers, the new fab is the sooner the better.
