[Taipei , Taiwan ] Optimistic about the e-paper market , ITRI, leading research institutions in Taiwan, exhibited a new i2R e-paper technology for the ticket and card application on Dechnology show last week.
i2R e-paper technology with thin, soft, easy to carry, and reusable bistable characteristics , can be used to membership cards, movie tickets and other ticket market , and it could combine with local tourism and travel information to add service value.
ITRI Printing Technology Project manager Huang said , i2R using cholesteric liquid crystal technology , simple structure, easy to produce, and manufacturers don’t need to invest large sums of money to purchase new equipment , can be produced in the STN panel .
Compared to E Ink, i2R e-paper is more simple, without any electronic parts, including the driver IC and battery, through the heat writing machine to connect with computer to out the image to i2R electronic paper.
He explained that the heat writer machine write the image pixel from the heat head , in the writing process hardware give auxiliary voltage to electronic paper, and heat writer machine built-in contact electrode, whereby the voltage for transmission, "print out” the image.
Using this technology, the image stays without electricity and power-saving features, can continuous display for 1-2 years, repeated written about 300 times.
In the Future , i2R will combine the NFC and other wireless communications technologies to extend more diverse applications.
