威盛电子-Acreo携手 跨海创建无线通信设计中心

全球逻辑芯片设计大厂威盛电子，今日宣布将与瑞典著名的微电子研究机构Acreo合作，于欧洲瑞典Lund一地、跨海创建公司首座无线通信应用设计中心。

威盛表示，Acreo过去在光电通讯应用领域极富盛名，近年来更积极投入单芯片封装( System on package)与系统单芯片(System on chip)领域、卓然有成。双方合建的设计中心将专注于射频(Radio Frequency)技术与混合信号功能区块(Mixed Signal blocks)的开发，对于威盛与Acreo而言，均极具有策略性的价值。而这也是威盛在欧洲的第一个合作研发单位，将可望强化公司在通讯应用方面的研发技术能力，并与现有的个人计算机核心逻辑、中央处理器、绘图芯片、网络与多媒体等产品结合。

同时这项合作案，亦将纳入由瑞典政府、学界及全球科技业者所共同组成的系统单芯片(Socware, System-on-chip-ware)研发计划之中。Socware计划领导人Rolf Rising表示，威盛与Acreo共同创建的无线通信应用设计中心，与Lund当地的大专院校比邻，对于学术及产业经验的交流，有显著的优点。

威盛电子总经理陈文琦表示，这项合作案的开展，将使威盛得以与在射频(Radio Frequency)等无线通信领域执领导地位的学术研究社群共同携手，加速实现公司发展后PC时代整体产品解决方案的理想；陈文琦并指出，威盛电子长期以来在产业界丰富的实战经验，也将透过此次的合作案，对下一世代3C整合技术的商品化、普及化做出更大的贡献。

Acreo总裁Hans Hentzell则表示，无论在产品设计理念、以及对先进半导体制程技术的使用方面，威盛电子成功均扮演了台湾PC产业的先锋角色，而双方合作成立的无线通信设计中心，势必将为全球的系统单芯片技术研究，注入一股强大的动力。

ACREO is a Swedish institute whose expertise within electronics and optics lies in applied research and development. Its different technological development areas are system level integration, interconnect and packaging, imaging, surface characterization, photonics, silicon carbide electronics and micro system technology. Acreo has during several years been in the forefront with technologies for system-on-package (SoP). Now Acreo is adding strategic competence in the area of system-on-chip (SoC) design for wireless applications. Acreo has facilities in Stockholm/Kista, Norrkoping and Hudiksvall. The department of System Level Integration is located in Norrkoping and will now pioneer the start of Acreo in Lund.
